I have wanted one of these blankets since I heard about them back in July. They officially go on sale tomorrow, September 1st. Now, the question is, "What color do I get?" I can't decide between Mocha Rouge and Happy Snails. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I have always been a fan of the thick, knit winter scarves and hats. Getting to wear them has to be one of my favorite parts about winter. But, this year, I really love all of the lightweight printed scarves for fall. I noticed them in stores about two years ago, but this year, the style and variety has really increased. Or, maybe it is that I just started noticing them. Either way, I am a huge fan. I plan on purchasing several to incorporate into my wardrobe. Here are a few of my faves so far...
If you are looking to add a little something extra to your wardrobe this season, try a scarf! Look how cute they look on these celebrities...

I have been a layering girl ever since I was in high school. Very rarely will you ever catch me with just one shirt on. I like the look of layered clothing, and plus, it makes it easier to adjust to the weather. Sometimes it is extremely hot outside, but my classroom is freezing (and vice versa).
Back in college, I read a magazine article where Mandy Moore stated she loved men's Hanes t-shirts. So, I decided to give them a try and I have been addicted ever since. I probably wear a white tank top under my clothes 364 days of the year (no joke). It is definitely something I can't live without.
I also find them to be a quick fix for shirts that may be a tad bit too short. I have trouble finding shirts that meet my length requirement, so throwing a tank top underneathe solves the problem some of the times. I have noticed the men's Hanes tanks are a lot longer than the women's too, which I love.
So, if you are looking for a tank top that is affordable, a longer length, and pretty well made definitely try the men's Hanes tank... It has my vote!!!

Since the beginning of Dawson's Creek in 1998, I have watched Katie Holmes and her career. I have always loved her down-to-earth personality (on and off tv), her girl-next-door appearance, and how relatable she is to me. It also helps that the character she played in Dawson's Creek was a little like me too. I have watched just about every interview she has ever done, even the Oprah episode where Tom Cruise jumped on the couch because he was so in-love with her. I know once she married Tom Cruise a lot of people started looking at her differently. Tom Cruise is a Scientologist and all, but I still like her. She is a mommy with a big heart (she loves to bring cupcakes and treats to workers and cast members on her movie sets). And, just like I said about Reese Witherspoon, you won't find her out clubbing on a Friday night. She doesn't dress risque, she values her family, and attempts to stay out of negative press (as much as a celebrity can). When I was looking for pictures online for this blog post almost every picture had Suri (her daughter) in it. That right there should tell you something...
Love her or hate her... She ranks pretty high on my celebrity list!

Since today is Sunday, I have a little time to surf the Internet and just be lazy. I always like to check out my favorite stores online to see if there are any coupons or deals that I can't refuse. Well, I hit the jackpot today! Old Navy is offering an appreciation coupon for 30% off until the 24th of August (coupon code: Thanks). They usually offer 20 or 25% off on certain days of the week, but very seldom do I see a 30% off coupon. So, I decided to look at their winter sweaters and accessories. Last time they had a sale, I stocked up on their Perfect Tees, which are a must. I am really big into layering my clothing. When you are on a budget, it is a good idea to purchase clothes that you can wear during all four seasons.
After looking, I found these sweaters: lightweight, many colors, good reviews, and they sell them in Talls... Sold!!! I have to buy clothing from Old Navy and stores that sale Tall sizes. I do not like to show my midrift and I have a tall torso.
Anyone that knows me knows that when I find a deal I don't just purchase one item... So, I am going to purchase 3 of these sweaters:
medium heather grey
The Deal: Original Price = $26.94... Sale Price = $22.50... with 30% = $15.75
and, I will get free shipping since the total cost before the discount is over $50.00.

So, for the past couple of weeks we have been traveling across the potty training bridge. It took us awhile to get to it, but we have made it. My very first blog post was about potty training, so I decided to give everyone a little update on our progress.
Back on Memorial Day weekend we decided to try the potty training with no success. After several days of attempting, the princess pull-ups came back out. Kate would potty all over herself and no mind it at all. So, we made the decision that she just wasn't ready. For the next two months, we didn't push the issue at all.
Then, the first week of August, we decided to give it a try again. And, this time, she was ready! I wish I could say there was a magical approach that we used, but there wasn't. We put panties on her and asked her every 5 minutes (literally) if she needed to go potty. After about 3 days, she had the process down. She has had a few accidents since, which is to be expected, but I feel we are on the right path. I must say, the Mike and Ike candy bowl really helped as an incentive too.
She now only wears a pull-up to bed, but many times she wakes up with it still dry. Now, any ideas on how to get your child to do #2 in the potty???
We have mastered the first step, but she isn't even attempting to do the other. She will actually hold it until she can't hold it anymore. She doesn't want to do it in her panties, but she is scared to do it in the potty. I also think she doesn't want to take the time to sit there longer than a minute or two.
We are desperate for suggestions!!!

The zig-zag signature pattern, the bold colors, and the unique knitwear... What is there not to like about Missoni? We have seen celebrities all over the red carpet wearing this designer. And, now, On September 13th, anyone can own a piece of Missoni. Missoni has partnered with Target to produce a line of clothing, home accessories, office supplies, and many other times at a price that everyone can afford. I am super excited about it! You can view the entire 400 piece collection on the Target Style facebook page or by clicking this link.
I am not sure what Missoni items will make it into my closet, but here are a few pieces that I have my eye on... Can you tell that I love winter accessories?

It is that time of year again: football season. The season officially began today for me, even though we live football year round in my household. My husband starts full-on practices and our first game is the 26th of this month. So, I decided today's topic would be about my life as a coach's wife...
I must say, it is not the easiest job on the block. But, every time I get a little upset, I remind myself that I am being selfish. Nathan has loved football since he was a child, and he loves all of his players and fellow coaches. I don't know if they get enough credit for all of the extra hours and hard work they put into a game that actually only lasts 48 minutes one night a week. The mental stress alone can wear them out, but it is all for "the love of the game." I have been told by several former football players and coaches in my family that you never forget the smell of a typical Friday night on the field. These guys learn to love the smell of sweat and body odor. Nostalgia, I guess! : )
From this point until the middle or the end of November, Nathan will be in full football mode. He eats, sleeps, and even dreams football! There are nights that he wakes himself up and gets out of bed just to write something down that he was dreaming about. He puts his heart and soul into this game!
On a typical day, he will get home around 8:00 or 9:00 at night, which is enough time to eat and tuck Kate into bed. When Kate was born, we made tucking Kate into bed the thing that he gets to do with her (since he is gone so much during the fall months). The only time that he doesn't get to do this is when practice runs really late or when he plays a game out of town.
I found an article entitled, "Coaches Wives Must Live Football, Too" that really explains the life of a coach's wife...
Acceptance, understanding, sacrifice and participation are the methods used by most wives to maintain healthy marriages from August through December.
Many wives, such as Deana Hargrove, spouse of Jim Ned coach Walter Hargrove, see it all as a simple matter of attitude.
"You just have to understand that you're not going to have your husband around for a while," she said. "It's a sacrifice, but I enjoy being a part of what he's doing, and I wouldn't have another life. You have to love it and not be resentful of it. You have to enjoy being around it, or it will be very difficult."
Kim Slaughter, spouse of Clyde coach Craig Slaughter, has learned to adjust another way: by viewing players as her own.
"It's tough, but you've got to make the team part of your family, so they're just as important to you as they are to your husband," she said. "When you make it as important to you as it is to him, it makes it a lot easier."Overall, being a coach's wife is not something that everyone is cut out to do. Actually, I wasn't sure if I was cut out for it in the beginning. I have adjusted a lot since he first started coaching seven years ago. At the beginning, I griped, complained, and made it very hard for him. I was young and thought that I couldn't live without him for 5 minutes. LOL!!! It took me awhile to adjust to life with him gone a lot during football season (and then baseball season in the spring). But, let me tell you, there is no other place I would rather be on a Friday night. I enjoy the crowds, fans, cheering, band, and the excitement in the players' faces when they walk onto the field. I love everything about this sport on game night! And, that is what makes it all worth while...
I am so proud of my husband, the other coaches, and players for making Fridays so exciting for me and my family!!!

For the last 3 years, I have waited to buy school supplies and materials until this weekend. One of my best friends and I always go shopping to purchase these things with NO TAXES!!! I know in the end we probably don't save a whole lot, but we still find enjoyment out of it. If you can save $5.00 by shopping this weekend, then that is $5.00 less you have to spend!
On a side note: I don't do a lot of clothes shopping on this weekend unless I run across an awesome sale. I have found that some clothing stores decide not to run good sales since it is tax free weekend. Sometimes you will save more if you shop the weekend before or after tax free weekend.
Here is a picture of some of the school supplies I purchased... Is it sad that I get excited about school supplies???

Over the summer, I have decided that my kitchen is very dark and drab. The only colorful thing I have in there is a Happy Everything mini plate on a stand. So, I have decided to gradually do a kitchen makeover. I am pulling out all of my dark pictures and accessories and replacing them with bright, fun ones. Besides, I have a 2 year old daughter that will find enjoyment out of seeing bright colors in mommy and daddy's kitchen. I have pictures of a few of the items I have purchased and plan on purchasing in the upcoming months. My goal is to turn my depressing kitchen into a fun place. I want people to walk in and immediately feel happy by the colors used.
After it is complete, I will post pictures. Wish me luck! ; )
