Organization: Entertainment Storage

Over the break, I have gone from one organization project to another. I know I am supposed to be relaxing while I am on break, but during school I never have the energy to get everything done. So, I have used this extra time to my advantage!

For months, the cabinets in the bottom of my entertainment center have really gotten on my nerves, but I never wanted to sit down and sort through all the mess. Well, a couple days after Christmas, I decided to tackle this monster.

The before

The left cabinet.

The right cabinet.

The after

I purchased these storage baskets for $2.97 each from Wal-Mart.

Closeup view of the label in case someone wants to purchase them.

Purchased these smaller baskets from Target for $1.97 each.

Used one of the larger baskets for game accessories.

Used the other basket for Nathan's coaching DVDs, CDs, and manuals.

The left cabinet organized... The small basket on the top is housing
my Iphone & Ipad stuff. The box underneath it has computer manuals
and information in it.

The right cabinet organized... Can you guess what this cabinet is for?!?!
All of Nathan's coaching stuff!!!

On to my next project!

Decorating & Organization: Kate's Big Girl Room (Part 2)

We have made a few changes/additions to Kate's room since our last post that I wanted to share. We are slowly adding things to her room because we want to make sure that we like something before we purchase it. I am one of those individuals that when I see something, I have to go home and think about it first. If I am still thinking about it after a day or two, then I will buy it. Luckily for this post, we didn't have to make any purchases. We just moved some things from other rooms and repainted what she had already.

 The before

Pay attention to the letters on the wall!

The after

I painted the letters hot pink and moved them over her bed.

Another view.

A closeup view.

The bean bag is now in her room.

A view of half of her room.

This little table was in my memaw & papaw's house. It
has sat in our dining room for the last couple of years. I think
it looks a lot cuter in Kate's room!

Organization: A Little Car Organization

My mother-in-law bought us some neat car organization goodies for Christmas, and I had to share them with everyone. When I opened these presents up on Christmas Eve, I got so excited because at least one of them was on my "organizational items to purchase" list. I even had to pull out my list to show her how good she did on the gifts.

These presents gave me an excuse to clean out my car and get it all organized again. Take a look at our new neat car gadgets...

1. Trunk Organizer

The before

We still had football stuff in our back end!

All cleaned out and ready to vacuum.

The trunk organizer.

And, a little info on how it works.

The after

I decided to put blankets, umbrellas, & a rain jacket in the
organizer. I plan to use the small bag on the left for an emergency kit
(ex. bandaids, scissors, etc.).

2. Backseat Food/Beverage Tray

With the tray up... This will work great for road trips where
Kate wants a snack.

With the tray down.

3. Auto Trash Can

Very much needed since we have a messy toddler
that rides in the backseat.

Things I Love & Printables: My 12 Wishes for 2012 (Part 2)

After creating the template for "My 12 Wishes for 2012," I sat down and constructed my list for the new year. There were some things that I put on my list last year that I still had not done, so I tweaked them, and they made the list again this year. Just like last year, this list will be displayed on my wall (my framed kitchen board) until 2013.

My whole list.

Organization: A Small Attachment Project

Now that I have almost all of the Coton Colors Happy Everything pieces, I needed a place to keep all of the attachments. My goal was to keep them together and place them somewhere that was easy to access. There is nothing worse than stuffing things in a closet, and then not being about to get to them. My first option was to purchase the actual Coton Colors attachment cases.

The Original Attachment Bag
$39.95

The Mini Attachment Bag
$33.95

Since I have both size attachments, I would definitely want both bags. That would be a total of around $75.00 for both of them after taxes. NEGATIVE!!! So, I looked at Wal-Mart (got to love Wal-Mart) and found these...

Each box was $3.97, which came to a total of under $10.00 for both of them. A lot better than $75.00! Plus, they have a handle, which I love.

So, I got them home, took off the labels and created my own labels using two index cards and some left over letters that I had lying around...

And, now, the final product...

I had to use the word "BIG" because I was out of "A"
stickers. I really wanted to put "Original," but had to rethink it.

And, a side view.

I am very pleased with these, and even more happy about the price!

Things I Love: My 2011 Wish List in Review

It is time to take down the 2011 wish list that I created at the end of 2010, and hang up the one that I made for 2012 (I will post about that one tomorrow). This list has remained on my refrigerator the entire year, so I could look at it and remind myself of the things that I was supposed to be working on.

Here is one last picture of it!

Now, I am going to take a look at each wish, and see if I accomplished it in 2011.

1. I have come a long way with Kate. I do not get nearly as mad at her unless it is needed, but I told everyone in an earlier post that I got put on anti-depressants back in the summer. It has really helped take the edge off of my mood. I still have some more changing to do when it comes to being a good mommy, but I am well on my way!

2. I am pretty active when it comes to taking care of a little one, cleaning, doing laundry, organizing, and working. I would like to find time to walk outside every once in awhile, though.

3. My family is pretty good on the healthy food eating. We slacked off once football season and then the holidays hit, but starting January 1st, we are going back to the way we were eating.

4. I have my days! I probably still need to smile a little more. : )

5. I try to stay positive, unless the situation is one that I feel you have to be more realistic than positive. I have a problem with trying to protect myself. If I stay realistic and guarded at times, I feel I won't get hurt nearly as much. It is one of my personality flaws! It is really hard for me to let my wall down at times. I have gotten a lot better, though. I think being a high school teacher has helped me so much! In that arena, I am always positive and open!

6. Thanks to grandparents, Nathan and I have been able to have many "date" nights with each other. It really helps with the relationship between us for sure. Sometimes we get lost in the mommy and daddy roles that we forget we are husband and wife too.

7. I still need to shop more with coupons. A lot of times, though, I will purchase the cheapest brand of something (like in trash bags, paper towels, etc.) that are cheaper than using a coupon. Lets face it... Groceries are expensive. PERIOD!!!

8. Definitely need to have more fun! Don't have enough of that, but who does?!?!

9. I have come a long way with judging others. I don't judge others nearly as much as I used to. I always try to think of people's home life and what they have to go through on a daily basis. : )

10. I am very happy and blessed!!! I have a great family, home, job, friends, and health. So, I have nothing to be unhappy about.

11. I have gained perspective this year, but I still have my bad days. But, for the most part, I love my life! Sometimes, my husband has to knock me down to reality with one of his conversations. His conversations are awesome when it comes to this topic. It must be the coach in him! ; )

How did your new years resolution or goals for 2011 turn out?!?!

Elf Mischief: Holly's 2011 Departure

Santa's Key is on the door!

And, now, Holly is waiting for Santa
to come pick her up!

Santa ate the cookies, drank the milk, left the key for us to use
next year, and took Holly with him! *TEAR*

Before she left, Holly made sure to write Kate a farewell note
and leave a few things to remind Kate of her throughout the year!

And...

Take a look at her grand exit!!!

She left streamers and tissue paper EVERYWHERE!!!

Another view...

And, one more...

We will really miss Holly while she is at the North Pole, but we are going to have a lot of memories to share with her next Christmas season.

Merry Christmas,

Santa's Key is on the door!

Elf Mischief: The Santa Key

Last night was Holly's last night at our house for the year. So, Kate was super excited to get up this morning to see what Holly had done or left for her. I am not really sure Kate understood the present Holly had left, but she will definitely understand tonight as we prepare for Santa's visit.

The note on the right is from Holly to Kate.
The note on the left is the one that Kate will leave for Santa with the key.

Kate's note from Holly (I couldn't get the picture to rotate),
which reads:

It's the day before Christmas & there is one more task that I must do.
Santa Claus, himself, is also watching ME too.
I was told to leave you this very special key
before Santa comes tonight to get me.
This key is from Santa's workshop and is made of magic and much more.
It allows Santa to enter without a fireplace, chimney, or key to the front door.
In addition to this key, please leave him some milk and cookies.
It has been a long journey, and he may be kind of hungry.
(Yes, I wrote this!)

This is the key and note that Kate has to leave for Santa on the front porch,
so he knows how to get in the house.
It reads:

It is the night before Christmas and I can't wait to see
All of the presents and gifts that you have left under the tree.
I have been a good girl, used my manners, and even shared my toys.
My mom and dad have been watching with excitement, enthusiasm, and a lot of joy.
Our home does not have a fireplace, chimney, or hole in the roof.
So, we are leaving you this special key to open the doors, but watch out for the Woof.
Our little dog, Armani, tries to act big and brave, but he is really very friendly.
Just ignore his barking and whining, and proceed with your busy itinerary.
Don't forget to look in the kitchen for cookies and milk that we left out for you.
We know you have to be hungry and thirsty too.
Love ~ Kate
(I wrote this too!)

Stay tuned to see Holly's last post, which will be her grand exit. *TEAR*
