Happy Saturday, everyone! Sorry about the off-the-wall post yesterday, but sometimes you have to get some things off your chest. Thank you for being the ear I needed. I am back and ready to share more office transformations today.
I went to Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and purchased these letters. They will sit on our individual bookcases in our office. Originally, they cost $9.99 each, but I got them for 50% off. Hobby Lobby always runs a good sale. Sometimes, you just have to visit them often to find your item at the right price. Just be patient!
If you notice, they do not match anything in our office. We are going with reds, pinks, and greens. So, it was my job to change that!
To start the whole process, I sprayed primer on each one of them. I highly recommend primer because the material that is originally on these letters absorbs paint for some reason. It took almost three coats of primer to completely cover each one of them. I used Krylon's white primer from Wal-Mart.
Here is a tip: Make sure you let each coat of primer and paint dry completely before adding the next one! You don't want globs of paint dripping off your pretty letter.
After primer, I added the spray paint. For the "K," I used Valspar's Frosty Berry from Lowe's. It almost looks like Pepto Bismol when sprayed.
For the "N," I used Krylon's Banner Red from Wal-Mart. If you want something that is a true red, definitely try this one.
Here is a look at the letters drying. I am sure you are wondering why I let the spray paint get all over the grass?!?! Well, we are about to get a deck in our backyard. So, I know this part of the grass is going to be under the deck. If that wasn't the case, I would definitely be using huge garbage bags for this process.
Since it was close to being dark by the time I finished this project, I moved the letters to the garage to sit for at least 12 hours to dry. They are still sitting out there as I type this post. I want to make sure they are fully dry before moving them and placing them anywhere.
Here is the final product...
I think a little paint made a huge difference in the appearance of these letters. I can't wait to place them in our office when that time comes!!!
Happy Creating,
