I am happy to announce that the construction of our deck is complete! That doesn't mean that I have the space decorated and ready to go, but that the building is done. The vocational school did an excellent job, and I think we may have a few people that want a deck of their own (built by them) after seeing ours.
Without further ado, here is the before, process, and after photos of our deck!
The Before
(click here to see the post)
Something about that patio wasn't inviting!
The Stages
.
The After
(You can tell that my family is already enjoying it!)
The lattice was purchased at Lowes by my parents. It was my mother's day present and my husband's father's day present. And, boy, it makes a difference in the appearance!!!
We do not have any trees in our yard, but the trees from next door add a nice shade to the deck!
Next, we plan on:
- landscaping around the deck
- purchasing some potted plants
- picking out patio furniture
- looking at different storage options for Kate's toys and outside necessities
We do not plan on doing any of these things in the near future because we spent a lot on the deck itself. But, we always like to have goals in mind. You never know when you may hit a good sale! : )

That lattice really is the perfect finishing touch! I can see you guys using this space so much this summer. WAY more inviting that the concrete slab! I bet you'll have fun decorating and accessorizing it. :) Thank you so much for linking up to our party!

I would have never thought of approaching the vocational school to do the work ... genius! And they did such a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteOh, and how funny now that husband/wife gifts change so dramatically after the house purchase, right? Baubles and cut flowers are now replaced with lattice ...
:)
... so very, very happy that you shared your amazing new deck with us at our Great Outdoors link party!
:)
Linda
Thank you! And, you are so right about the husband/wife gifts. They SO change after you are married. Clothes and jewelry get replaced with household goodies. LOL!!!
DeleteSo glad I was able to link up at your party. Thank you for hosting it. ; )
