June Challenge: Aww...Snap! (Week 3)

Welcome back to the 3rd week of my photo challenge. Before we start today's tasks, lets review the first two weeks...

Step 1: Locate all of your photos and place them in
one central location.

Step 2: Take all of your photos out of their current storage accessories.

Step 3: Sort photos according to size.

Step 4: Label the back of all photos.

Now, to this week's tasks... This week is all about our 4x6 photos. We are going to sort them and then, store them.
Step 5: Sort the 4x6 photos.

I am leaving this step very broad/general. I want you to sort your photos the best way for you. My way is not necessarily the best way for others, but it works for me. So, I want you to take the best approach for you and your household. Below, I have listed the categories I used:
  • Pets
  • Our Wedding
  • Nathan & Kristin's Baby Pictures
  • College: 2000 - 2005
  • The Years 2005 - 2009 (before Kate)
  • The Years 2009 - 2011 (after Kate)
  • Wallets
  • Negatives
  • Middle School & High School
Notice that I do not have one set way of categorizing my photos. Some are sorted by year and others are sorted by type. So, there is no wrong way!

Step 6: Place the sorted 4x6 photos in
individual storage units.

For this step, I purchased an Iris photo keeper from Hobby Lobby. It originally cost $34.99, but I had a 40% off coupon, so it cost me approximately $21.00. You can also purchase these units from Amazon or Michaels (I have seen them at these locations, but other retailers may sell them as well.).

Step 7: Make labels for the front of each individual
photo holder. Then, place them in each container.

This is how one of my containers looks.

Step 8: Place the individual storage containers
back in the bigger unit. Then, place a label
on the front (of course!).

I used a Martha Stewart with Avery chalkboard label that I purchased from Staples for this step.

Next week, we will focus on the 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14 photos. : )

  1. I actually purchased this exact same picture case a month ago from Hobby Lobby. I haven't put my pictures in it yet, but it's on my to-do list this summer. Great minds think alike! ;)

    2. There isn't a dumb question. :) I am still feeling my way through some blogging information myself. I purchased the labels at Wal-Mart. Then, I used Microsoft Office to create the actual labels. I went into mailing labels and selected the style of labels I had and clicked new document. When you do this, it will section off the blank document for you.

The font I used is called Girls are Weird (LOL) and I downloaded it from dafonts.com.

      Hope this helps!

      xoxo,
      Kristin
