Let me start out by saying that having a baby boy is going to be a whole new experience for me. I had a sister, but never had a brother. Plus, I wasn't around little boys much as a child, except for my cousins and I was too young to remember them as babies. So, I am going to be leaning on my husband a lot for guidance on this one.
A little funny for everyone... Someone told me to invest in some peepee teepees and I literally had no idea what they were talking about. So, I had to Google it. And, I was amazed! I never knew they sold that sort of thing, but I am sure they will be lifesavers for me.
Even though the peepee teepees are something that seem really useful, they weren't going to be my first major decison maker. In the whole grand scheme of things, the baby's bedding ranked top on my list. What type of baby bedding should we purchase for a boy? There are SO MANY options for little girls: flowers, butterflies, polka dots, animals, and anything with pink or purple. But, the boy's selection was rather slim anywhere we looked. We didn't want to do the whole sports theme because he will have plenty of time for all that once he gets older. So, should we use trucks, trains, airplanes, jungle animals, dogs, or try to find another cute theme?
I knew I wanted to purchase the baby's bedding from Pottery Barn Kids because their bedding is good quality and it washes very well. My daughter has their Hayley bedding in her room and we love it. So, deciding on the brand that we wanted to purchase really narrowed down our options, but we found one that we really really liked...
The Animal Alphabet Crib Bedding

This time around, we decided against purchasing the whole bedding set. My daughter never used the comforter that we purchased for her nursery and it ended up getting in the way most of the time. So, we decided to purchase the bumper pad, crib skirt, and 2 sets of crib sheets. For his blanket, he will use a light blue minky dot blanket with his initials embroidered on it.
We also purchased this navy blue valance for his window...
Up next, I will show everyone stage 1 of our playroom to nursery transformation.

As a mother of two boys, I can give you some advice. Regarding the peepee teepees, they're cute but a waste of money. Just throw a cloth diaper over their "willy" when changing them. It's when the cold air that hits them that causes them to pee in your face, lol.
ReplyDeleteLittle boys are SO MUCH FUN! They are a handful up until they're about 5 or 6, but then it gets easier. It's opposite for girls. They're easy(ish) up until 5 or 6, but then they become a little defiant. At least from my experience :)
Thank you for the advice. I sure need all the advice I can get. You said the exact same thing my husband said about the teepees. He said a rag would do the job just find because those teepees may not hold back all the pee. LOL!!!
DeleteAnd, I can relate on the daughter end. My daughter is 3 1/2 and she is already a mess. :)

I agree- peepee teepees are a cute idea but a wipe works just as well. I have two boys also and I love it!! I always pictured myself with a girl or girls but having boys has been so fun, and so much easier than I thought it would be! I do agree with you though, the bedding was hard to decide on. I love what you have picked out!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to share my baby boy experiences with y'all. And, thank you for advice. I need all of it that I can get. ;)

Congratulations Kristin! I've disappeared from the blogging world too with this pregnancy, ugh! Just noticed you're pregnant too! :-) We are having a girl though (due in April).
ReplyDeleteI saw that you were expecting on your blog! Congratulations to you too... And, a very cute way of revealing it to us. :) How have you been feeling?
